Follow the truth and you'll find what you need every day.
I’m currently executive producer at the CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia. I’m focusing on bringing context for our viewers to understand the bigger picture along with increasing the writing and news judgment skills in our producers. I'm also an assignment desk manager and fill-in line produce as needed.
Previously I produced the 6 a.m. newscast for the ABC affiliate in Tampa. I got at least an hour every day to help the team bring the best we had to someone drinking their coffee. When the executive producer was off, I stepped up and added that role to my plate. Before moving to Tampa, I was doing whatever it took to get the morning show on air at the NBC affiliate in Chattanooga. That included producing, editing video, web/social, troubleshooting, the desk and playing assignment manager and executive producer before the rest of the newsroom hit the door. I wrote and broke a lot of stories there, but "Calling the train home" was my favorite.
I also spent time in the National Press Building, the Capitol and the Cannon House Office Building. I know a lot about how the sausage is made, from both a political aspect and the press aspect.
